NEW CLASS BEGINNING MARCH 2012

CONCEALED CARRY PERSONAL DEFENSE.

This course is designed for beginning to intermediate level pistol shooters. If you are not sure you are up to this, we offer training to get you there!<

Participants should have, or intend to applied for, their concealed Handgun License as the course is designed for defensive situations outside the home. They should be experienced shooters to maximize what can be learned from this course. Students will practice drawing a loaded handgun from concealment and engage one or more targets. Students will learn basic defensive handgun skills. Course length is approximately 4 hours.

Basic "Learn to shoot" orientation

courses are approximately 4 (four) hours long and normally scheduled for the second week of each month or are available on request.
These may be either day or evening classes. Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun will be scheduled on separate days. class size is limited to 8 (eight) students. Texas Concealed Handgun License: See class description page for eligability requirements.
All CLASSES INCLUDE: Photos as needed and Certificate of Completion documents. as of March 1, 2011 all fingerprints must be submitted through the DPS contractor L-1.
NOT INCLUDED: handgun and ammunition for qualification, however we have handguns you may use and ammunition you can purchase.
New License: Course Length 10 to 11 hours (approx).

Renewal: course Length four to five hours (approx.)

By State law the classroom only course must be conducted over two days.
Cost is $15.00 per person. Bring your Social Security Number with you for class. No form is needed. Students as young as 9 years of age may now take the course for credit. AN ADULT WILL BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND WITH ANY STUDENT UNDER 12 YEARS OF AGE. Classes are normally held in Decatur, Texas.

If you wish to take the Home Study or the Online course, they must be completed prior to meeting with an instructor for Four hours additional work. All worksheets and on line exams must be printed out and brought to class. email or Call for dates and location of these courses, or check on line at www.tpwd.state.tx.us/for a listing of these and other courses state wide.

LEARN TO SHOOT: Two types of courses are available. These are all NRA Courses. An NRA Certificate of Completion is awarded for each course.

1. MOST REQUESTED COURSE
FIRST Steps Orientation--Firearm Instruction, Responsibility and Safety Training -- courses for Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun. They are designed to provide a hands-on introduction to firearm safety, handling, and shooting skills. these courses can be conducted one-on-one to meet your schedule. Each course lasts four hours. We limit these courses to eight students per class.
Cost: $85.00 per student. (Family and Group rates available)

2. COMPLETE COURSE
Basic Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun courses range from one to one and a half days.
Date: Scheduled for individuals or groups on request.
Cost: for the one day course for an individual is $165.
Group rates availabale for two or more.

Muzzleloading/Black Powder Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun courses range from 10 to 12 hours.

We offer reduced rates for two or more courses on the same visit. any two ML courses for $295 and all three for $425.

Home Firearm Safety:
This course is intended for the whole family. It covers safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition IN THE HOME as well as away from it. It includes a hands-on familiarization of handguns, rifles and shotguns. It will include the most common action types of each to insure the students know how to safely take control of the firearm, check it to make sure it is not loaded or unload it to make it safe if necessary. The course takes about four hours. No live fire is included in this course.

Personal Protection in the Home
This course is designed for beginning to intermediate level pistol shooters. Participants must be experienced shooters to maximize what can be learned from this course. It will introduce the student to defensive shooting and teach basic defensive handgun skills. Course length is approximately 9 hours.

Personal Protection Outside the Home Course.
THIS IS AN INTERMEDIATE LEVEL SHOOTING COURSE.
The course covers unique safety and legal issues that appply when a concealed handgun is carried in public, including legal and ethical ramifications when responding to a life threatening encounter, and the legal, moral, emotional and social aftermath of the use of deadly force outside the home.
The Course is PRESENTED IN TWO PARTS.

  • The basic course takes nine hours and includes presenting a handgun from concealment and engaging a target. It can be taken alone. (See "Class Description" page for full description)
  • The Advanced Personal Protection Outside the Home Course is an additional five hours of Special Shooting Techniques, i.e. moving to cover, multiple targets, point shooting techniques.
